CURITIBA, Brazil – The fans came out in droves today to watch the weigh-ins for Saturday’s UFC 198 pay-per-view in Brazil.
In what UFC officials are saying is the largest crowd to watch a weigh-in event in the promotion’s history, tens of thousands of fans flocked to see some of their home-country favorites ahead of the card.
UFC 198 takes place Saturday at Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Parana, Brazil. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
In the main event, heavyweight champ Fabricio Werdum (20-5-1 MMA, 8-2 UFC) puts his belt on the line for the first time against Stipe Miocic (14-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC). But that’s not the only big fight on the stacked card.
In the co-feature, two Brazilians meet: Vitor Belfort (25-11 MMA, 14-7 UFC) vs. Ronaldo Souza (22-4 MMA, 5-1 UFC) in a crucial middleweight bout. Plus, Cristiane Justino (15-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) makes her long-awaited UFC debut against Leslie Smith (8-6-1 MMA, 2-2 UFC) in a 140-pound catchweight fight. She came in a pound under. Plus, Matt Brown (20-13 MMA, 13-7 UFC) fights Demian Maia (22-6 MMA, 16-6 UFC) in the featured prelim bout.
